10 years of MidsummerSail - The toughest race on the Baltic Sea celebrates anniversary

The Agora direct MidsummerSail, the legendary nonstop offshore race from Wismar to the far north of Sweden, is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, and breaking all previous records.

With 86 registered boats from 5 nations, the 2025 edition will feature the largest fleet in the race's history.

What began in 2016 as a bold project has evolved into the Baltic Sea's ultimate offshore challenge. Longer and tougher than any other regatta between Denmark and Finland.

On June 21, 2025, the summer solstice, the starting gun will fire at 1:00 PM in the Bay of Wismar. The finish line lies 900 nautical miles away in Töre, northern Sweden, the northernmost port on the Baltic Sea.

Four starting groups will be sent off by the cannon of the Hanseatic cog Wissemara.

From high-tech racers to family boats. Sailing solo or with a full crew.

MidsummerSail is not just a sailing event, it's a European statement.

Year after year, it brings together crews from countries bordering the Baltic Sea.

On a sea that often divides — but here, it connects.

It builds bridges between people. Not over the water, but upon it.

What makes the MidsummerSail so unique is not just the route from the historic starting point in Wismar to the famous yellow buoy in Töre.

It's the endless days under the midnight sun, the diversity of the participants, and their spirit of adventure, solidarity, and respect.

"The MidsummerSail may be the greatest sailing event on the Baltic. Those who take part aren't chasing trophies — they're after experiences that last. You don't just win awards here — you gain memories for life," says Robert Nowatzki, founder and organizer.

Participant quotes - MidsummerSail 2024

"MidsummerSail is the toughest race on the Baltic Sea. If you enter, you have to be ready for anything — from dead calm to storms, from total isolation to breathtaking sunrises. It's an adventure that changes you." — Nicolas Manthos, Skipper of Cheekytatoo / yacht.de

"Sailing solo on a 27-foot boat in the middle of the Baltic — that's pure freedom and challenge in one. MidsummerSail showed me how strong I really am." — Marlene Brudek, Skipper of Heartbeat / nwzonline.de
